Over the following years Molly and JC succesfully adopted Noah into their family. Chris and Tracy had their baby, a little boy named Jasin. All of our children started to grow up. Before I knew it Lynsey was going out to party's and working on her singing and Cassie was getting into swimming and pets and growing up and Xander was big 10 year old.

"Mom, am I old enough to date?" Lynsey asked me one day when I was helping her with her biology homework.

"Um, well I dated when I was your age."

"Great, then I have a date tonight."

"What?!" Lance ran in the room.

"I have a date." Lynsey said.

"Oh no you don't." Lance said.

"Sure you can go honey, be back by 10, and be good." I said enphesising the last part.

"No she can't go, Kate she's only 15!!"

"Honey she's almost 16."

"So? That means nothing, I don't want her going out!!" Lance said.

"Lance, she's growing up." I shrugged. The look on his face was hilarious.

"Don't you trust her?"

"Of corse I do, but you remember when we were 16 we..."

"Dad, I need a ride." Cassie came in the room.

"To where?"

"When you were 16 what?" Xander walked in the room and jumped up on the conter.

"Nothing." Lance said. "Where do you have to go?"

"I need shoes."

"You do not need shoes, you have a whole closet up stairs." Lance said.

"But I need these." She shoved a magizine at him. She pouted and batted her eyes. "Please daddy?"

"Oh... ok.."

"No Cassie you don't need them." I said.

"But Mom!!"

"Cassie you do not need them."

"I'll pay for them! Please!!"

"Well if you pay for them." I nodded.

"Yes!! Let's go Dad."

"Hold up,what am I supposed to do?" 10 year old Xander asked.

"You can stay here with your dear mother." I hugged him.

"I wanna go with Dad."

"Well then I guess we'll all go." I said walking over to Lance.

"Who said we want you to come?" He grinned at me.

"Because you love me, I assumed you wanted me to come."

"That's right." He kissed me. There was a knock on the door and I went to open it and found a boy standing there.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hi is Lynsey here?"

"Uh who are you?" Lance came up behind me.

"My name is Matt."

"Mhm, how do your pants fit?"

"Lance for god sakes... LYNS, MATT'S HERE!!" I called up the stairs.

"Don't you dare try anything or you'll answer to me you got that?" Lance was treatening poor Matt.

"Lance! Leave him alone. I'm sorry, have fun, have her back by 10 please." I said to the poor boy.

"I will."

"Ok, Hi Matt, are you ready to go?" Lynsey said coming up to us.

"Yeah."

"Take this, and don't turn it off." Lance handed her a cell phone.

"Dad.."

"Lyns..."

"Fine, bye Mommy." She hugged me.

"Bye Lyns."

"Bye Cassie, please get me that CD if you find it!" Lynsey called to her sister.

"I will!"

"See ya Xander, let's go." Lynsey took Matt's hand and lead him out of the door.

"Wait a second, what about me?" Lance called after her.

"Bye daddie." Lynsey waved and got in the car. Lance stood in the doorway for a long time.

"DAD LET'S GO!!" Cassie yelled pulling his arm.

"I say we follow them." Lance said looking at me with a quite serious expression on his face.

"No honey, she'll be fine, now let's go."

"We'll get you ice cream." Cassie coaxed.

"What kind?"

"Butter pecan." Xander answered as we got in the 4-runner.

"You know me too well." Lance laughed.

"Mommy I have a dance practice tomorrow at noon and that swim meet at 5." Cassie said as Lance pulled out of the driveway.

"Ok, I'll take you."

"I need to practice pitching, Daddie will you help me?" Xander asked.

"You should ask Mom, she was a softball pitcher in highschool."

"No I just need you to catch it." Xander said.

"Oh, yeah sure." Lance said as we pulled up to a stop light. "So where are we going?"

"The mall."

"Oh no.." Lance whined but turned that direction anyway.

"Doesn't Lynsey have voice lessons tomorrow?" I asked.

"Yeah she better be good." Lance mumbled.

"What?"

"Tonight."

"Don't you trust her Daddie, she told me she won't have sex till she's at least 18." Cassie said. Xander started to laugh.

"She told you that?" I asked.

"Uh-huh."

"Wow, does that make you feel better honey?"

"Un poco." Lance said.

"Espanol, go dad." Xander said.

"Thank you." When we got to the mall we all went off in search of shoes for Cassie and I ended up getting a new pair of tennis shoes too. Then we went to the CD store and Xander and Lance talked music while Cassie and I browsed. "Wow he's cute." Cassie pointed to a CD with a boy band on the cover.

"Yeah for a little kid." I said.

"He's not little, he's Lynsey's age!"

"So, I'm old then." I shrugged.

"You are."

"I am not I'm only 36." I said.

"That's old to me." Cassie said.

"Well you're only 12 little missy." I hugged her.

"Yup."

"Oh here's the one Lynsey wanted."

"What the hell, no she's not getting that CD." I said seeing Britney Spears. Cassie laughed. "I'm kidding Mommy, she wanted this one." She picked up a CD.

"Ok then, lets see if Daddie and Xander are ready to go." We walked over to them and I hugged Lance.

"Ready honey?"

"Yup." We went and payed and then were walking out to the parking lot when Callie and Cody ran up to us with Josh right behind them.

"Hi!" They said.

"Hi!" We all said.

"Where's Lynsey?" Cody asked. I couldn't believe how much he looked like Justin.

"On a date." Cassie said.

"What?" Cody's eyes bugged out.

"She's on her first date." Lance grumbled.

"Really? Wow with who?" Callie asked.

"Matt somebody." I said.

"Oh he's nice. Don't worry Uncle Lance, he's a good boy." She said.

"Thank you Callie." Lance said.

"We were going to go to a movie you two want to come?" Josh asked Cassie and Xander.

"I'll go." Xander said.

"Cassie?"

"Eh, I have homework to do." She said.

"Ok then, I think Daddy can drive Xander home." Callie said.

"Ok have fun sport." Lance patted him on his head and gave him money.

"I will."

"Bye sweetie." I kissed the top of his head and Cassie took my hand and we walked out of the mall where we ran into Justin.

"Hey dudes!" He smiled at us.

"Hey, Xander's gunna go to the movie too, can you drive him home?"

"Or corse, see you guys later." He said running off in search of his kids.

"Cassie I didn't know you had homework." Lance said.

"I don't, I just wanted time with you two." She said. Lance and I smiled at each other.

"Well we're glad." Lance said as we drove back home. Cassie needed to swim her laps so I went out to the pool with her.

"Mom watch!" Cassie jumped in the pool.

"What was that?" I laughed.

"It was a half cannon ball." She giggled.

"Half is right." Lance laughed sitting down next to me. Later Cassie got a phone call from her best friend Halley and dissapered with the phone in her room. A while later Lynsey came home.

"Hi." I looked up from my book.

"Hi." She sat down next to me.

"Have a nice time?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"You guess? What did he do?" Lance yelped and ran over to us.

"Dad, he didn't do anything wrong, I just, I don't think I'm old enough to date yet." she said.

"Oh thank god." Lance said. I slapped his arm.

"Why not sweetie?"

"I dunno, I want to be a kid." Lynsey said.

"That's a good reason." Lance said.

"Well, I'm gunna go online, I mean, can I please?"

"Hold on there princess, Cassie got you this CD, and I got you this one." Lance handed her two CD's.

"Ooh! Thank you!" Lynsey hugged him.

"You're welcome, yeah you can go online." Lance kissed her.

"Oh I saw Noah."

"What was he doing?"

"Making out with some girl." Lynsey shrugged and went into the office.

"Really?" I jumped up and ran after her.

"Uh-huh, but you can't tell Uncle JC or Molly, cuz he didn't know I saw."

"Where were you?" Lance asked walking in behind me.

"We went to the movies DAD."

"Uh.."

"And no I didn't kiss him." Lynsey said flipping on the computer.

"Good girl."

"Where's Xander?"

"He went to the movies with Callie, Cody and Josh, oh and Justin."

"Where?"

"Oh, the mall."

"Fun. Why didn't Cassie go?"

"She wanted some alone time, she swum laps." I sat down next to Lynsey.

"Dad, can you get me some water?" Lynsey asked.

"I suppose." He left the room.

"What's up with him." Lynsey asked.

"He doesn't want you to grow up, but he'll get over it, when you were 4 he said you wern't allowed to kiss till you were 50." I laughed.

"That's funny, I've heard that story, no marrying till I'm 60 and no sex till I'm 70 and too old to do it right?" Lynsey laughed.

"Yeah something like that." I smiled.

"Here you go." Lance handed her a water bottle.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome."

Lynsey tried to open it and gave up. "Dad, I can't open it." She whined.

"Yes you can."

"Nu-uh." She pouted as an instant messege lit up on the screen.

"Who's that?"

"Alli."

"Oh."

Lance opened the water bottle for her.

"I'M HOME!!" Xander called. I got up and went into the livingroom. Xander was pulling off his shoes.

"Hi y'all, LYNS, CALLIE, CODY AND JOSH ARE HERE!!" I called.

"TELL THEM TO COME IN HERE!!" She called back. I waved them in the office and sat down on the couch.

"So how was Lynseys date?" Xander asked.

"Fine, she's not going to date anymore for a while though." I informed him.

"Why not?" Justin asked.

"She wants to be a kid." Lance appered behind me.

"That's good." Justin said.

"So how was the movie?"

"Uh, teenagerish, but it was ok." He yawned.

"Teenagerish huh, that's your kind of movie." I laughed.

"Funny." Justin said.

"I know I'm a riot."

"You are." Lance kissed my cheek. Xander rolled his eyes and left the room just as Lynsey and Callie ran in.

"Mom can Callie spend the night?"

"If it's ok with Justin."

"Fine with me."

"Cool!" They turned and ran upstairs.

"OK BOYS, LET'S GO!" Justin called to Cody and Josh. They ran out of the office laughing about something.

"Bye you two." I hugged them and then they all left.

"I'm old." Lance said.

"No you're not." I hugged him.

"My daughter is dating."

"No she went on a date and said she doesn't want to go on another one for a while, honey, their growing up but you do need to relax." I said swaying a little.

"Yeah yeah, but she's..." I cut him off by kissing him.

"See you're not old, you still have a hot young chick kissing you." I smiled.

"You're older then I am."

"Oh shut up!" I slapped his arm.

"owwwww." He whined grabbing his arm.

"You're a wimp."

"No I'm not you are."

"Oh you think so huh?" I said wacking him again.

"Ow!"

"Wimp."

Lance got a devilish gleam in his eyes and he reached out and tickled me mersiously.

"Ahhh!! STOP!! YOU'RE MEAN!!!" I squeeled wriggling around, trying to keep my balence before I gave up and collapsed to the ground.

"Now who's the wimp? You can't even stand up?" Lance asked as he continued to tickle me.

"Hey Dad do you... oh for god sakes.." Cassie walked threw the door.

"You need something?" Lance asked.

"No, nevermind, hey mom you need some help?" She asked. I nodded and Cassie jumped on Lance and knocked him off of me.

"Hey!!" Lance yelped. A few hours later it was time for everyone to go to bed. Xander and Cassie still liked being read stories, so Lance was reading The Wind in the Willows to them. A chapter every night. After he read they went to bed.

"Hey Lyns, Callie, time for bed." I stuck my head in Lynsey's room.

"But.."

"No buts, you have voice lessons tomorrow and we're going to Cassie's swim meet, so you need sleep." I said.

"Fine."

"Goodnight Callie."

"Night Aunt Kate."

"Goodnight Mommy."

"Night Lynsey. Sleep well you two." I kissed them both and then let Lance say goodnight and then we went to bed.

"Kate?"

"Hm?"

"Well this is going to sound really stupid but..."

"but everything you say sounds stupid."

"Hey!"

"I'm kidding, go ahead."

"I want my little girl back." Lance said.

"Aww, Lance, you still have Cassie, she isn't that old yet." I said.

"I know, I know, and I have Xander. So tomorrow we have what?"

"Uh, you're changing the subject, but let's see, Lyns has voicelessons at uh, 10 I think and Cassie has dance at oh geese, 11 maybe, Xander needs to practice baseball, and then Cassie has a swim meet, on and then there's Caitlin's birthday party."

"I forgot about that."

"Bad Lance."

"I'm sorry."

"She's your god child and you can't even remember her birthday? Shame on you."

"Hold on here, her birthday is next week, they're having the pary early cuz Joey has to take Alli to New York next week remember?" Lance said.

"Oh yeah."

"Oh yeah..." He shook his head. "You give me crap and then just say oh yeah?"

"Oh yeah."

"You are just mean sweet pea."

"Me?"

"Yes you. Come here."

"Nope, no kissy tonight."

"Why not?"

"Because you said I give you crap, and I only give you geniune shit." I rolled over. Lance was still for a second.

"Wait a second that makes no sence." He rolled over again.

"Oh I must be loosing my mind." I smiled at him. "Chicken is good with horse needles."

"What?" Lance laughed.

"Mississippian tiger with purple spider tounges." I said.

"Um, ok."

"Green deoderant with orange lemon drops." I continued.

"I know what you're trying to do..." Lance laughed.

"TV's with DVD's in SUV's at the DMV watching SVU." I said.

"You are twisted."

"da da da da da da.. is it gunna be me, da da da da.. you might been hurt babe, babe, it ain't no lie, you've seen them all come and go.. ooooo."

"Ok, you don't know how to sing."

"I drive myself crazy, drive my self crazy thinkin' of you ohohohhhh."

"Are you on something?"

"Come and take a ride take a space ride with the cowboy..er girl baby.."

"You better watch out I might take you up on that offer." Lance said.

"Can I have a kiss?" I asked.

"Are you uncrazy?"

"Yup."

"Then by all means." Lance moved over me and kissed me. The next morning I got up and found Cassie and Xander playing a card game while they ate cereal at the kitchen counter.

"Goodmorning." I said.

"Morning Mom." Xander said. Cassie swallowed her cereal and then hugged me.

"Morning Mom. Where's Dad?"

"Shower."

"Oh."

"Mom, can I have a car?" Xander asked.

"Not till you're 16." I said putting my hand on his head. "Someone needs a hair cut." I said. "Look at this mop."

"Mom.. cut it out."

"We could sweep the floor with you." I continued.

"Fine I'll get it cut, but you know I look just like Dad then and that's annoying."

"Your dad is very cute, what's wrong with looking like him."

"Noah says I look like Dad's mini me."

I burst out laughing. "Well, don't spike it then."

"I don't but it sticks up naturally." Xander whined.

"So take a cold shower." Lysney walked in the room.

"Lynsey Marie Bass!" I said.

"Oh hi mom, I didn't see you there."

"Honey, Xander is 10 he doesn't need to.. we were talking about hair and... ok nevermind, morning Callie."

"Morning."

"Cereal's on the counter."

"Xander! You ate my cereal!" Lynsey said.

"I did not, that's mine!" Xander grabbed the box and showed her the giant X he had drawn on the box.

"Well where's mine?"

"You finished it yesterday." I said pulling a new box out of the cabnet. "Here." I handed it to her.

"Thanks."

"Why do y'all have your own boxes?" Callie asked sitting down.

"Cuz Xander and Daddie eat all our cereal." Cassie expalined.

"We do not." Xander defended himself.

"Morning." Lance came in the room and kissed his kids on their heads.

"Hey!" I hugged and kissed him.

"Oh gross." Lynsey said.

Lance pulled away from me and shrugged. "Not gross." He kissed me again. Later that day we dropped Callie off at her house and picked up Cody and I dropped Lance, Lynsey and Cody off at FreeLance. Then I drove Cassie over to the dance studio where poor Xander had to wait and watch.

"This is so boring." He yawned watching the group of girls dance.

"Their good." I said.

"But I know all the routiens by heart already just from watching Cassie in the livingroom." Xander whined. I laughed. He was right, I'm sure we all knew it. My cell phone rang and I quickly answered it.

"Hello?"

"It's me, guess what?"

"What?"

"Lyns is going to open for Aaron Carter." Lance said.

"What?! Are you serious?"

"Very, she just got discovered Kate!" Lance sounded very happy and I could hear Lynsey screaming in the background.

"So, she, like, wow."

"Yeah get over here as soon as you can! I gotta go!" Lance hung up the phone.

"Wow." I said again.

"What?" Xander asked.

"Lynsey's opening for Aaron Carter."

"Really?"

"Uh-huh."

"Wow."

The second Cassie was done we got in the van and drove back over to FreeLance and walked in to find Lynsey and Cody hugging and jumping up and down. Lance was talking with some guy I didn't know.

"Lyns?" I called. She pulled away from Cody and ran over and hugged me, Cassie and Xander at the same time.

"MOMMY I'M GUNNA OPEN FOR AARON CARTER!!" She screamed.

"Honey I'm so proud of you!!!!! Don't hurt your voice now." I laughed and kissed her.

"We're gunna sign her on, I'll be her manager." Lance said walking over to me.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well I mean, nevermind that's great."

"Yeah, where do I sign Dad?" Lynsey asked hugging Xander.

"Now wait a second sweetie, are you sure you want all this? It will be a lot of work, you have to get your songs down really quickly." He asked.

"Yes, I know about fame and stuff, I mean you did it, and I can too, I really have thought about this for a long time." Lynsey nodded.

"Ok sweetie, sign right here." Lance pointed. Lynsey grabbed Cassie's hand and signed the paper.

"Wow." She said when she put the pen down.

"Ok Lyns, you are now a signed artist at FreeLance." Lance hugged her. Lynsey was to say the least extatic. The rest of the day she danced around singing softly and every now and then squeeling. We went to Cassie's swim meet and all four of us sat in the stands watching. Here's was the second to last heat so we all talked about Lynsey till it was Cassie's heat. The buzzer went off and Cassie dove in the pool. When she came up she was in second place.

"GO CASSIE!!!!!" Xander yelled.

"CASSIE BASS!! CASSIE BASS!! CASSIE BASS!!" Lance, Lynsey and I chanted very loudly. When they got to the end of the pool she was still in second place and pushed off the wall hard and surfaced in 1st place.

"COME ON CASSIE!!!" I yelled.

"KEEP GOING!! YOU'RE IN FIRST CASS!!" Lynsey screamed.

"Come on Cass, come on." Lance was saying.

"GO CASSIE!!!" Xander was yelling. She touched the wall first and the four of us jumped up.

"WOOHOO!!!!" We yelled. She looked up at the board and then over at us and grinned.

"YOU RULE CASSIE!!" Lynsey yelled. Cassie laughed and gave us a thumbs up sign and then turned and took off her goggles and gave the girl that came in second a hug and climbed out of the pool. She wrapped a towel around herself and then went over to receive her ribbon.

"In third place we have Missy Andrews, congratulations, in second place we have Jennifer Colgate, congratulations and in first place we have Cassie Bass, congratulations!" Lance, Xander, Lynsey and I screamed. The guy put her ribbon around her neck and she shook his hand and then ran over to her team and they all gave her hugs and she hugged her coach. We climbed out of the bleachers and ran over and hugged her.

"That's my girl!!" I kissed her.

"Good job munchkin! I'm proud of you." Lance hugged and kissed her.

"Go Cassie, good job!" Xander hugged her.

"Cassie!! You were great!!!! Good turn!" Lynsey hugged and kissed her sister.

"Thanks you guys!! I WON!!! Ahh!!! I have to go change, I'll be right back." She ran off to change and I turned to Lance.

"Looks like it's a pretty good day." I kissed him.

"Mhm, after the party I say we all go out to celebrate." He said.

"Go out where?" Lynsey asked.

"Hmm, Ice cream comes to mind."

"Yes!" Xander said.

"You can't come you didn't do anything today." Lynsey said.

"Lynsey! Xander supported both you and your sister today, give him a little credit." Lance said.

"Sorry Dad."

"Don't apoligise to me apoligise to your brother." Lance said.

"Sorry Xander."

"No problem, you know if you're the next Britney Spears, I mean you'll be better then her of corse, but will you take me on tour with you?"

"Sure."

"Cool! Hey Cassie Lynsey gave me a job!" Xander ran over to Cassie who walked out of the locker room wearing an oversize Nike shirt and Nike windpants and Nike swimsandles.

"Oh, look it's Nike girl." I said.

"Yup, that's me, hey Lyns, you're wearing addidas what's wrong with you?"

Lynsey looked down at her shirt. "It's Dad's I stole it." Lynsey shrugged.

"I thought that looked firmiliar, ok we have a birthday party to get to and then we're going out for ice cream to celebrate." Lance said putting his arm around Cassie.

"Wait, can I have a picture for the school newspaper?" Some boy ran up to us with a camera.

"Of me?" Cassie asked.

"One of you and one of you and your family."

"Sure." Cassie smiled and he took a picture and then she walked back into Lance's arms and the rest of us huddled around them and he took another picture.

"Thank you." The boy ran off.

"Is that Steve?" Lynsey asked Cassie.

"Yep." Cassie nodded as we walked out to the van. We all loaded in and drove to Joey's house and let ourselves in.

"Hey!" Trista hugged us all.

"Hey, how are you?"

"Good, Caitlin was waiting for you." She said talking about her and Joey's daughter. Yep that's right, Joey married Trista. She adopted Alli as her own daugher and she and Joey had another little girl named Caitlin, who was turning 5.

"Hey Alli!" Lynsey said hugging the 11 year old.

"Hi!" She grinned. "Hi Cassie."

"Hi." Cassie hugged her.

"Hi Xander." Alli waved to him.

"Hi." Xander said running off to play with 9 year old Jasin and 10 year old Sarah.

"AUNT KATE!!" Caitlin ran over to us and jumped in Lance's arms. I laughed.

"I'm not aunt Kate." Lance laughed.

"I know, but Aunt Kate is holding something." She said. Lance laughed.

"Happy birthday sweetie." He hugged her and then set her back down.

"Thanks." She ran off chasing after 3 Allen Kirkpatrick. Noah was bouncing a balloon off of the celing.

"Hi Noah." I hugged him a little.

"Hey aunt Kate." He said. I did a double take.

"Did you pierce your eyebrow?" I asked.

"Yeah you like it?"

"It's very cool, does your Mom know?"

"Yes I know." Molly laughed from her seat on the couch.

"She said you have your belly button pierced." He said.

"Yup, see." I pulled my shirt up.

"Cool, hey uncle Lance." He tossed the ballon to Lynsey.

"Hey Noah." Lance waved before going into the kitchen.

"Hey Geek, so I saw you at the movies yesterday." Lynsey said tossing the balloon back at him.

"What?! What were you doing there?" Noah asked.

"I had a date, and so did you I assumed." Lynsey grinned.

"Hold on, you're dating?"

"I dated, past tense, not gunna do it again for a while, but it seems like you had fun."

"Come here." Noah dragged her off into a corner and talked to her.

"Cassie's what's around your neck?" Justin came into the room.

"I got first place in the swim meet." She grinned.

"Wow congratulations honey." Justin hugged her. "Go tell Caroline, she'll be very proud."

"Where is she?"

"Kitchen." Cassie walked off.

"AUNT KATE!!!" Jasin ran over and hugged me.

"Hey dude." I hugged him.

"What kind of a 9 year old likes to hug his aunt?" Chris teased his son.

"She's cool." Jasin retorted before running off with Xander again.

"I WANT TO OPEN MY PRESENTS!! COME ON!!" Caitlin yelled and everyone went into the kitchen.

"Lynsey! Congratulations!" Joey hugged her tightly as she came in the door.

"What did I.. OH!!! THANK YOU!!" She hugged him back.

"What's going on?" Justin asked.

"Didn't Cody tell you?"

"No, he's not here yet, he's getting a ride with, wait a second, Noah did you pick up Cody?"

"Oh shit, no." Noah grabbed keys off the counter and ran off toward the door.

"THOSE ARE MY KEYS!!" JC yelled after his son.

"TOUGH BEANS!" Noah called back as the door shut. Everyone but JC laughed. After Caitlin opened her presents Lance, Lynsey, Cassie, Xander and I left and went out for ice cream. Then Lance and Lynsey dropped the rest of us back off at Joey and Trista's and he and Lyns went back to FreeLance to get to work.

Cassie, Xander, Sarah, Jasin, Alli, Noah, Callie, Cody and Josh started a game of Basketball. While Caitlin, and Allen played Candy Land on the floor in the livingroom.

"So Lynsey's gunna be a big star huh?" Joey said pulling Trista onto his lap.

"Maybe."

"Doesn't that scare you?" Trista asked.

"Not really, I mean Cody and Josh seem like they're gunna follow in their dad's footsteps too. Josh is already singing right?" I said.

"Yeah, we're working on a demo right now." JC said. A cell phone on the table rang.

"Who's it it?" I asked.

"Uh, I have no idea, we all have phones that look alike, uh."

I shrugged and reached forward and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Uh, hi, who is this?"

"Kate, who is this?"

"Melissa."

"Hi Melissa, uhm, this is going to sound really dumb but I don't know who's phone I answered so who did you call?"

"Um, Noah Chasez?"

"Oh yeah he's outside, just a second." I covered the phone. "It's Noah's phone." I informed everyone and walked to the door. "NOAH!! PHONE!!" I held it up.

"Thank you." He grabbed it from me. "Hello?" He said walking away.

"We're missing a person now." Cassie whined.

"Why don't you ask Justin, I'm sure he'll play." I suggested.

"UNCLE JUSTIN!!" Everyone started yelling. He ran out.

"What?"

"Play basketball with us?"

"Sure, who's team am I on?"

"Mine." Cassie said tossing him the basketball. "With Callie, Sarah and Cody."

"Ok." I laughed as Justin imidiatly got a basket and went back inside.

"So who's Melissa?" Caroline asked as I sat back down.

"Noah's girlfriend." Molly said.

"Huh, their growing up huh, we must just be lucky, our kids are still little." Chris said kissing Tracy's hand.

"For now." She said looking up at him. An hour or so later Lance and Lynsey came again and Lynsey proudly held up a CD disk.

"What's that?" I asked after kissing Lance.

"You'll see." She said sticking it in a CD player and pushing play. There was Lynsey's voice singing.

"Uncle JC, could you help produce this?" She asked. JC's face lit up.

"I'd love to, when do you want to start?"

"Uh, are you busy tomorrow?"

"Nope, why don't you come to the studio at uh, 10?"

"Sure, I mean Mom or Dad can one of you give me a ride please?"

"Sure Lyns."

Over the next two weeks Lynsey and JC spent all their free time in the studio working on Lynsey's songs. After school Noah would give her a ride to the studio and I would pick her up on my way home from the hospital. Josh started going too to learn about producing, since he had seen JC do it forever. I walked into the livingroom one day and overheard Lynsey and Lance talking about stuff I knew nothing about, tencnical musical stuff.

"What are you talking about?" I asked sitting down next to Lance.

"Hey, Lynsey's almost done in the studio."

"Doesn't it usually take monthes?"

"Well, monthes if you don't work on it every day." Lance said.

"Oh yeah."

"Can I have Cassie and Xander tomorrow?" Lynsey asked.

"That's a very strange question honeypie." Lance said.

"I mean, well there's this part where I need a background thing and rather then using my own voice I thought I'd use them, I mean that would be cool."

"Have you asked them?"

"I asked Cassie and I still have to ask Xander, but if he says yes can I have him?"

I laughed. "Sure, but what about us?"

"Dad's already in some of them."

"Well then what about me?"

"No offence Mom, but you can't sing." Lynsey said.

"Hold on there Lyns, yes she can." Lance said.

"Prove it."

"Ok I will." Lance got up and went over and stuck at video in the machine and pushed play. There was me up on stage arguing with Lance about the microphone.

"So sing something." Lance said.

"Uh, Rubber Ducky, you're the one.." I started singing.

"Oh god." I covered my face with my hands. "I didn't know that was on tape."

"Steve Fatone tapes everything honey." Lance sat back down.

"So she can sing one song, big deal."

"Lynsey I used to sing to you everynight, well if Lance didn't." I added.

"Well if you can prove that you can sing, then I'll let you sing." Lynsey said. Suddenly I remembered something.

"Lance! Do we still have that CD, that Caroline and I made that day we were really bored?" I asked.

"Uh, oh yeah!" He jumped up again and put a CD in the CD player and pushed play, my voice came over the speakers.

"See?" I said.

"Uh.." Lynsey looked a little shocked. I started singing along with my own voice.

"Ok ok, you're right, come to the studio tomorrow then." Lynsey jumped up and went upstairs.

"Ha!" I turned and looked at Lance.

"Ha yourself, you know she's a lot like you." Lance said.

"Is not."

"Yes she is, she's just like you were when you were her age."

"How would you... oh nevermind."

"How would I know, let me think, um, I spent almost every waking minute with you when you her age."

"Yeah yeah, well for your information Cassie and Xander are a lot like you."

"No their not, Cassie's shyer then I was and Xander's more athletic then I'll ever be."

"That's not what I mean, I mean the way they are."

"Hm, so you got one and I got two like me?"

"Cassie's like both of us honey, but Xander isn't like me much at all." I stood up.

"Sure he is, he's got your sarcasm."

"Oh well that's a good thing." I pulled Lance off the couch and kissed him.

"MOM!!! CASSIE HIT ME!!!" I heard Xander yell.

"I DID NOT!!"

"OWW!!! XANDER!!!"

"GO AWAY!!!"

"LET ME IN!!"

"GO AWAY!"

"XANDER!!!!!!!!!!!!" There was loud pounding.

"CASSIE GO AWAY!!!"

"LET ME IN YOU LITTLE FREAK!!"

"SHUT UP!"

"Darn, and I wanted to kiss you some more." I mumbled as we both ran up the stairs. We found Lynsey standing in her doorway watching. Cassie was at Xander's door and pounding on it and both she and Xander were screaming at each other.

"HEY!" Lance yelled and they both shut up.

"Xander come out here." He continued. Xander's door opened and Xander started to step out and Cassie grabbed him and tackled him to the ground.

"HEY HEY HEY!!" Lance and I pulled them apart.

"What's the problem?!!" I asked.

"SHE HIT ME!" Xander pointed at Cassie.

"I DID NOT!! HE TOOK MY CD!"

"IT'S MINE!!"

"NO IT'S NOT!!"

"Give me the CD." Lance held out his hand. Neither of them moved. "Come on." He shook his hand. Xander went in his room and placed a CD in Lance's hand.

"This is Mom's cd." Lance handed it to me.

"She said I could have it!" Cassie protested.

"NO SHE SAID I COULD HAVE IT!" Xander yelled.

"I SAID you both could share it, but it stays downstairs when it's not being listened to." I said.

"I WAS LISTENING TO IT!" Cassie said.

"NO YOU WERN'T YOU HAD THE RADIO ON!"

"SHUT UP YOU FREAK!"

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!"

"Ok you know what? Lynsey is the only one allowed to listen to this CD for two weeks." I handed it to her. She grinned and ran into her room.

"BUT.."

"No buts, now go in your rooms and don't come out till dinner ok?" Lance said.

"BUT.."

"No phone Cassie, you can wait till after dinner."

"I need.."

"No computer either Xander, wait till after dinner." Lance continued. They both sulked and went in their rooms and slammed their doors. Lance looked at me and took a deep breath. The sound of the CD came from Lynsey's room.

"DAD! THIS ISN'T FAIR!" Xander yelled from his room.

"he's right, Cassie can still hear it." Lance knocked on Lynsey's room.

"Hey Lyns?" He opened the door.

"Hm?"

"Could you put headphones on please?"

"Sure." She plugged them in and put them on her head.

"Thank you." Lance started to close the door.

"WHAT?"

"I SAID THANK YOU!" Lance yelled. Lynsey nodded and Lance closed the door. Music came out of Cassie's room. Lance sighed and opened the door.

"Turn it off." He pointed to the cd player.

"You never said I couldn't listen to music."

"I'm saying it now."

"Dad this isn't fair."

"Turn it off. Thank you." He closed the door again and Cassie threw something at the door. Lance opened it again.

"What did you just throw at me?"

"Nothing."

There was a shoe lying on the ground. "Ok that's it, you don't throw things Cassie, no phone for two days." Lance closed the door again and Cassie screamed in frusteration. Lance sighed and leaned against the wall and looked at me.

"It's ok." I said.

"No it's not." He opened Cassie's door again.

"GO AWAY!" She yelled. I turned and walked downstairs to start dinner. A while later Lance came back downstairs and sat down at the counter and put his head on it.

"So?" I asked.

"So she doesn't hate me but she called me an unfair selfish baby who liked Xander and Lynsey better."

"I'm sorry sweetie." I rubbed his arm.

"I'm fair arn't I?"

"Yes."

"I mean if Xander turned on his music I would have done the same thing and she's older anyway."

"She's mad because of the phone thing."

"What was I supposed to do, she threw a shoe at me."

I bit my lip so I wouldn't laugh. Lance looked up at me and cracked a small smile.

"What?" He asked.

"She threw a shoe at me." I imitated him.

"She did."

"She threw it at the door, not at you."

"Well what if I opened the door again."

"Then you would have a Nike logo imprinted across your forehead." I grinned. "She wouldn't have thrown it at you if the door wasn't there, she was just mad."

"So you're saying I overreacted."

"Maybe a little, but you can do whatever you want."

"I guess I should amend that concequence huh?" Lance rubbed his eyes.

"Whatever you think is best." I smiled. "Dinner's ready."

Lance sighed and walked over to the intercomm and pushed a button.

"Dinner's ready, come on down." He said. A few seconds later two doors slammed and 2 sets of feet stomped down the stairs and Cassie and Xander appered looking very sulky. They sat down at their places and started picking at the tablecloth.

"Where's Lyns?" Lance asked. "Oh she has headphones on."

"I'll go get her." I handed him a spoon and ran up the stairs and opened Lynsey's door. She looked at me and I motioned for her to take the headphones off.

"Dinner." I smiled at her.

"Yes!" She jumped up and turned off the CD player and followed me out of her room. We went downstairs again and all sat down around the table. After saying grace we started to eat.

"Cass?" Lance said.

"What?" She asked harshly.

"Don't talk to me like that Cassie, you can use the phone tomorrow." Lance said scooping beans onto his plate.

"I thought you said two days."

"I did but I changed my mind, no phone tonight, but you can use it tomorrow."

Cassie nodded.

"What do you say?" I asked.

"Thank you." Cassie mumbled. After dinner Xander went online right away and Lynsey called Callie but she wasn't there so she ended up talking to Cody for 2 hours. Cassie ended up watching TV with Lance and me. Xander appered a while later and sat down next to me.

"What were you doing?" I asked.

"Checking on my websites."

"The Xander Bass fan sites?" Lance laughed.

"Yeah."

"Why should people have fan sites for you?" Cassie asked.

"You have them too." Xander said.

"That's because I was a cute baby."

"So was I."

"You know I don't like that my report card goes on the internet." Cassie said.

"There's nothing you can do about it honey." Lance shrugged.

"I suppose Lyns is gunna be getting a load of websites soon huh?" Xander said.

"Probably."

"So she's gunna be famous and gone all the time now?" Xander asked looking a little sad.

"Aww, Xander." I hugged him a little.

"MOM!"

"Xander, we don't know what'll happen, she could become big or not, you never know, she'll be gone from time to time though, will you miss her?" Lance asked.

Xander looked around the room.

"Xander I'll miss her." Cassie said.

"Me too, ONLY if she's gone alot!" Xander said looking kinda embarrassed.

"Xander that's sweet that you'll admit that." I said.

"MOM!"

"MOM!" Lance imitated him. "You're embarrasing him!"

"Shut up dad." Xander laughed.

"Why should Dad shut up?" Lynsey walked in the room and sat on Lance's lap.

"You're getting too big for this Lyns." He said holding her up.

"No, Mommy sits on your lap all the time." Cassie said. Lynsey laughed.

"Yeah and do you know what they do?"

"LYNS!"

"What?" Cassie asked.

"Never you mind."

"Oh come on, she's old enough, they have SEX!" Lynsey laughed. Lance pushed her off his lap. "HEY!"

"Lyns, sitting on someone's lap isn't having sex." Lance informed her.

"Eww, then you would have just had sex with daddie!" Cassie giggled. Lynsey stuck her tounge out.

"That's sick Cass."

"Ok ok, calm down."

"What I ment is, I bet they have had sex with her sit-" Lance covered her mouth with his hand. "Ok enough from you." He made her sit back down.

"What are you talking about, how can you..." Xander started to ask.

"Oh my god!" Lynsey fell backward on the couch. "You are an idiot!"

"No, I'm only 10! How would I know! Come to think about it! HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?!"

"I have friends that know these things."

"Friends like who?" Lance asked.

"Lance that doesn't matter."

"Noah tells me things."

"WHAT?!" Lance's eyes got huge. "He shouldn't be telling you anything about stuff like that."

"Lance."

"I mean really.."

"Lance, Stacy told us stuff." I said.

"WHAT?! Aunt Stacy!" Lynsey laughed.

"Ok ok, changing the subject." Lance said.

"Did you miss Daddy when he was gone?" Cassie asked.

"Mhm, very much." I patted Lance's arm. "I missed my baby."

"GAG!" Lynsey said.

"Now hush, I didn't see Kate for almost a year and a half."

"When?" Cassie asked.

"When 'N Sync started."

"Really, but I thought Mommy went with you!" Xander said.

"Nope, not till the second year."

"Yeah, they didn't have sex till 20 years after they met.." Lynsey laughed.

"No if you do the math it would be 14 years." Lance said.

"What?" Xander was confused.

"They met when they were five dumbass." Lynsey said.

"Don't call your brother a dumb ass." I said.

"Sorry."

"So you were 19?" Cassie asked.

"What? Why do we have to talk about sex all the time?" Lance groaned.

"You were 19, that's old."

"Not old Lyns, you wait that long you hear me. Sex is not good unless you are in love with the person." Lance said. I smiled. "Don't feel pressured Lyns, never give up something like that becuase you think it will make you cool."

I was proud of my husband. "That's right, I should have waited because making love to someone you are in love with is unlike anything else."

"Well what if you never fall in love?" Cassie asked.

"Aww sweetie, one day you'll meet someone that you get a feeling about, and you will know."

"But..."

"Cass, you'll find someone." Lynsey smiled.

"That's right." Lance said.

"DAAAAAAAD, so Lyns is gunna leave." Xander changed the subject. Lance laughed.

"Not for long amounts of time Xander."

"Daddie will you come with me?" Lynsey asked.

"Of corse, that's what managers do."

"Is it a good idea for her dad to be her manager?" Cassie asked.

"If she gets big then she'll have to change, but for now it's fine." Lance said. "I'm not one of those parents that will take all your money or anything honey."

"I know Dad."

"You contract says that every sent you make is yours and no one elses."

"I KNOW!"

"OK!"

The next day Cassie came home from school whining.

"MOM!! DAD!!!!"

"Hi sweetie how was your day?" I said meeting her at the door.

"Awful."

"Oh, what happened?"

"Noah was 20 minutes late and I got to school late and missed half of first period, here's a note you have to sign, and then everyone at school heard about Lynsey so I'm being asked for her autograph and Xander got in trouble and..."

"What?"

"No big deal, he passed a note, but anyway.."

"How would you know this, he's not in the same school."

"Because he's Lance Bass' son." Cassie sighed sitting on the couch. "You know I never did anything to become famous and yet everyone knows and cares about everything we do! AND to make it worse I think this project that Mrs. Appleton gave us is just so she can get a view into our lives."

"She the one that had a crush on Lance?"

"SHE'S A FRICKIN' TEENYBOPPER!! STILL! I told her Daddie was old but she said he's cute and talented and blah blah blah... WHY do I have to get the teacher that's in love with my dad..."

"Awww, Cass, do you want us to talk to her?"

"No she'd jump Daddie."

"Not if I can help it, you tell her he's mine." I tried to make her laugh. She just rolled her eyes.

"Sweetie, I'm sorry the whole world cares about everything you do because of your famous father, but there is nothing we can do about it." I gave her a little hug. She sighed. "I know."

"So what's this project?"

"Home movies."

"What about it?"

"Family history threw home movies."

"What?"

"I have to do a report on our family history using a form of media, aka home movies."

"Ok well that should be fun."

"No.. all of our movies show you and Daddie making out."

"They do not!"

"The old ones do."

"Cassie...."

"Where's Dad?"

"He's helping Lyns and JC at the studio and Xanders at practice."

"Cool, so wanna show me some movies?" Cassie smiled at me.

"Sure."

We settled down in front of the TV.

"Ok I need ones of you and Daddie as little little kids, and then as grown-ups and then Lyns as a little kid and then me and then Xander and that's it, but we have to be doing interesting things because otherwise I'll have nothing to talk about." Cassie said.

"Ok, here's me when I was three." I put a movie in. A little girl in a ballerina outfit came on the screen.

"That's you?!"

"Yup."

"You were so cute!" Cassie laughed. I spun in circles and then crashed into a lamp.

"MOM!!" Cassie laughed. My mom rushed onto the screen and set the lamp up the right way. The screen cut to me pouting.

"What's today Katie?"

"My birthday." I crossed my arms.

"Can't you smile?"

"No!"

"What's wrong?" My dad was asking me from behind the camera.

"Lance is at his grandmas." I pouted again.

"Who's Lance?"

"DAD YOU KNOW WHO LANCE IS! HE SAID HE WAS GUNNA GIVE ME A TEDDY BEAR!" All of the relitives behind me started laughing. My grandma picked me up.

"That's your grandma right?" Cassie asked.

"Mhm."

"Aww sugar, come on we have birthday cake." My grandma carried me over to the table and sat me down. The screen cut again to show me and Lance on our bikes in our driveway when we were about 7 or 8.

"MOVE!" I was yelling. Lance backed his bike up so I could get threw.

"RACE YA!" I said as I started pedling down the street.

"HEY!! NO FAIR!" Lance pushed off and raced after me.

"I WON!" I called.

"NO, I DID!" Lance said touching the mailbox at the end of the road.

"No, because it's my race and I say it ends here!" I stomped my foot.

"We always race to here!" Lance said throwing his bike down. I could hear my mom laughing from behind the camera.

"WELL I CHANGED MY MIND!" I yelled running over to him and knocking him down. We wrestled around for a while before I proclamimed myself the winner and ran back up to my mom.

"Momma, can we have juice?" I asked.

"Go get your bike, thank you Lance." My mom said as Lance parked his bike in the driveway. I turned around and looked for my bike, which was still at the end of the street.

"No fair." I stompped off.

"Geese mom, you're a bully." Cassie laughed.

"I was fiesty." I smiled. "But we'll watch the rest of this in a second, here's Lance's baby tape."

Lance appered on the screen a little tiny kid looking at the camera. A while later there was Lance on the screen with a towel pinned to his sholders and in a super hero pose.

"What are you doing Lance?" His dad's voice asked.

"I'm an American Gladiator!" Lance jumped up onto the couch and restruck his pose.

"MOVE!" Stay pushed him over.

"HEY!" Lance stuck his tounge out at her. "No I'm superman and my eyes are lazers and you're dying." Lance stared at her.

"Stop it!" Stacy said.

"There's smoke coming out of your ears.. ha ha ha haha, die evil sister!"

Cassie was laughing next to me. Then there was me and Lance sitting at their kitchen table stuffing our faces with PB+J's.

"Hi kids." Lance's mom's voice said.

"Hi." We waved spitting crumbs everywhere, we started to giggle and more food came out. There was a lot more of cute little kid stuff and then the screen showed me sitting on Lance's bed.

"What are you doing?" I asked the camera.

"I'm learning how to use this thing.. oh look zoom." Lance zoomed in on my face and then back out.

"You better not be zoomed way in." I said.

"I'm not."

I hadn't remembered seeing this one, but I hadn't watched these tapes in a long time. "Smile." Lance said. The camera started zooming way into my chest. My mouth dropped open.

"Go dad." Cassie laughed next to me.

"Oh my.... I didn't... whoa." I was rather shocked. Lance zoomed back out and I was still yapping about algebra and the camera went out. Cassie was rolling on the floor holding her stomach. "You didn't know! HA!! He checked you out with the camera!!"

"Hush you." I changed tapes and this time it was our wedding.

"Do you Lance Bass take Kate..." The minister was saying. Lance nodded. "I do."

"Awwwwwwwww." Cassie said.

"You've seen this one."

"I wanna see when you and Daddie were going out."

"For the project?"

"No for fun."

"Ok." I stuck one in.

"HELLO!!!" Lance's voice said from behind the camera.

"IN HERE!" He was in a hotel hallway.

"Can I come in?"

"NO!!" my voice said.

"Please, there are fans out here."

"LET ME GET MY SHIRT ON!! Ok..." I pulled open the door. "LANCE!!"

"Ha, that's all on tape, now who looks dumb." Lance said.

"You do, get in here, I don't want you attacked by fans." I pulled him in the room.

"So, what are you doing?"

"Nothing what are you doing?"

"Taping you."

"Smart ass."

"Yup and what a nice one it is too." Lance giggled.

"Funny, are you going to shut that thing off so I can kiss you or not?"

"I suppose." The screen went blank. Then came back on showing me and Lance kissing.

"Ha! caught in the act!" Caroline's voice said. Lance and I pulled apart.

"Oh go film Justin." Lance said.

"Sorry, he's taking a shower... however..."

"DON'T YOU DARE!" Lance grabbed the camera from her.

"Wow she looks young!" Cassie said when the camera showed Caroline.

"She looks that way now."

"Yeah but I mean her hair is all different."

"Mhm.. Oh my god, this is on here, you're too young to watch this." I reached to turn it off.

"What?" Cassie moved the remote away from me. Joey had the camera and was looking in a mirror.

"Ok Lance and Kate are in MY room and I'm getting this on video for blackmail material.. ha ha.. ok here we go, cover your eyes kids." He laughed. I could hear Justin snickering behind him. Joey opened a door and Lance and I were lying on one of the beds making out.

"HA HA HA! Caught on tape!" Joey laughed. Lance and I untangled ourselves and looked up at Joey.

"YOU ASS!! GIVE ME THAT!" Lance reached for the camera.

"JOEY!! GET OUT OF HERE!"

"It's my room!" Joey laughed. "Come and get it if you want it." Joey said. Lance growled and fixed his pants before climbing off the bed and grabbing the camera and shutting it off.

Cassie was laughing next to me.

"Don't you dare use that." I looked at her.

"I won't."

We watched home movies for hours, we were watching the ones when Xander was learning to ride a bike when Lance got home.

"Come on Xander.. I won't let go." Lance was running behind him holding the bike up. Lance let go and Xander kept going.

"Wow, good Xander!" I called from behind the camera.

"He's doing it!" Lynsey yelled, chasing a basketball across the driveway. Xander stopped the bike and turned around and saw Lance standing halfway up the driveway.

"YOU LET GO!"

"AND YOU RODE A BIKE!" Lance ran to him and scooped him up. "Good job buddy!! You did it!"

"XANDER!! GOOD JOB SWEETIE!!" I called. "Aww.." I zoomed into show Lance and Xander hugging each other.

"I did it Daddie!!" Xander smiled at him.

"CODY!!!" Lynsey yelled. I moved away from the father son moment to show Lynsey tackling Cody to the ground.

"What did I do?!"

"You cheated!"

"I did not, You were watching your brother, that's not cheating!" Cody flipped the over and pinned Lynsey.

"I CALLED A TIME OUT!!! Didn't I Cass?"

"I dunno." Cassie shrugged rolling down the driveway in her rollerblades. "Uh-oh,, DADDIE I CAN'T STOP!!" She ran into him and he caught her.

"Whoa, easy cowgirl, you should get lessons from Mommy, she's good at rollerblading." Lance looked at me.

"Would you teach me?" Cassie looked at the camera.

"Sure." The camera went blank and then came back on showing me in rollerblades.

"Lookin' good!" Lance called from behind the camera.

"Thanks honey."

"Liking the belly shirt." He laughed zooming in.

"Glad you approve. Ok Cass give me your hands." I turned around so I would be going backwards and she would be going forward. "Ok it's kind like ice skating, HEY you two watch out!" I said when Cody and Lynsey ran into Cassie.

"Sorry."

"Kate you're gunna hit me.." Lance said.

"Well move."

"Oh yeah.." Lance giggled and moved out of my way as I came backing up. "C'mon girly girl, show us some moves." He laughed.

"Stay there Cass." I turned around and skated backwards down the driveway did a jump thing and then skated back to Lance.

"Wow, I married an athlete." Lance laughed.

"Oh shut up."

"Gimme lessons later?"

"Whatever you want." I took Cassie's hands again. "Ok sweets, let's try this again."

"How do you turn this thing off?" Lance's voice said and the screen went black.

"He hits on you." Cassie was laughing.

"He does not."I sat back.

"He just did."

"Honey, I'm married to him, he doens't hit on me he." I took out the movie. "Ok so which ones do you need?"

"Uhm, these and don't worry I won't use any of those parts you don't want me to."

"I know you won't."

"Hey y'all." Lance walked in the room as Cassie stood up.

"Hi Daddie."

"Hey honey." I stood up and moved to give him a kiss.

"Guess what?" He spoke before I could kiss him.

"What?"

"Chicken butt." Cassie laughed.

"Funny.. no really guess what?"

"My birthday is next week." I smiled at him.

"Oh yeah!!" Lance laughed. "No but really GUESS WHAT!!"

"Um, Xander got in trouble at school today."

"No."

"He did."

"What? What did he do, wait! GUESS WHAT?!"

"What honey?" I gave in.

"No I said guess."

"Lance.... ok uhm, you won hottie of the year award."

Lance gave me a pained look. "No, Lyns and JC did a duet thing, they were just fooling around but it sounded really good so they'll probably work on that more, and that would be a good way to introduce her ya know."

"Mhm." I looked at him. I wanted to kiss him, but he was going on and on about stuff.

"HEY!!" A loud voice came from the doorway.

"Who's there?"

"ME!"

"Me who?"

"CODY!"

"Oh we're in here!"

"Hi ya!" He gave us all hugs.

"How did you get here?" Cassie asked.

"I got a ride with Lyns and Noah."

"Well where are they?"

"Right here." Lynsey came in the room.

"Hey Lyns."

"Hi ya, ooh home movies." She looked at the floor.

"Mhm, class project."

"Lyns, everyone in school wants your autograph."

"I know! It sucks, I'm sorry." Lynsey smiled at her. "Just ignore them ok?"

"Sure."

"Xander got in trouble today." Lynsey said.

"What did he do?"

"He passed a note and I got lunch detention."

"WHAT?!" Lance looked at her.

"NOAH MADE ME MISS FIRST PERIOD!" Cassie glared at the doorway where Noah walked in.

"It wasn't my fault! Sarah needed a ride too and she took forever to get ready, she's started taking showers in the morning and Josh was in there and the other bathroom was broken and Dad was using the last one." Noah said.

"It's fine, we'll sign the note."

"Oh before I go, is Xander here?" Noah asked.

"Nope, he's at baseball."

"Oh, ok well Sarah wanted to know if he is going to disney next week with school cuz she doesn't want to go unless he does." Noah said.

"He's going."

"Oh, ok well have him call her or something, bye!" Noah waved and left.

"Bye."

"CODY!!" Lynsey ran over to him.

"LYNS!!!"

"Shut up, I need algebra help."

"No, I need algebra help."

"Dad will you help us?"

"Sure."

"I'm gunna go get Xander."

"Can you drop me off at Josh's?"

"Why?"

"He's gunna help me edit my film."

"Ok sure."

I drove Cassie over to JC and Molly's and dropped her off getting a quick hug from Sarah and JC who were on their way to play practice and then drove over to pick up Xander. I got out of the van and looked on the field, everyone was huddled around someone.

"Mrs. Bass!! She's a doctor!" Someone yelled.

"SHE'S HIS MOM!"

My eyes widdened and I ran over to the crowd and pushed my way in. Xander was lying on the grass holding his arm and crying in pain. His coaches were huvering over him.

"Xander!" I knelt down by him.

"Mommy it hurts." He cried grabbing my arm with his free hand.

"Ok sweetie, it's ok, what happened?" I gave him a kiss.

"He was sliding into home and collided with Jeff and hurt his arm." One of the coaches said.

"Ok Xander can you move your fingers?" I took his hand in mine. He moved then a little.

"Owwww."

"Ok can you push against my hand?"

"No.. owwww that hurts mom!"

"Ok sweetie, you broke your arm." I said examining it.

"Oh man, Xander I'm so sorry." A boy said.

"Owwwwww." Xander was moaning as I touched his arm.

"It's ok sweetie.. it's ok." I brushed his hair back. He looked very much like Lance at that moment for some reason. "Is there a first aid kit anywhere?" I asked.

"No."

"WHAT? Ok there's on in my car, someone go get it in the glove box."

"Which car?"

"The silver Mini van." I pointed to it and one of the other mom's ran off.

"I don't feel so good." Xander said. His face was pale.

"I know sweetie, stay with us, ok don't faint, or try not to please... come on, sweetie, I broke my arm when I was five."

"I know, did it hurt this much."

"Mhm, you'll be ok..." I flipped open my cell phone and called home.

"5x is the variable now you add.. hello?"

"Lance? Xander broke his arm."

"WHAT!! Oh my god is he ok?"

"Yeah we're going to the hospital as soon as I get it in a sling, meet us there ok?"

"Sure we're on our way... you sure he's ok?"

"He's ok."

"Tell him to hang in there, we're on our way."

"Bye." I hung up as the mom got back with the kit.

"Daddie said to hang in there." I put my phone back in my pocket and opened the first aid kit.

"Ok Xander..." I popped an ice pack and held it to his arm and then ripped some gause to make as a sling and tied it around his neck and placed his arm gently in it.

"Owww.."

"Ok Xander, give me your hand." About five people helped him up.

"OWWWW!"

"I know sweetie, come on.." I lead him slowly and carefully to the car by the time we got there he was bawling again. I helped him lie down in the back seat so gravity wasn't effecting his arm.

"Xander, dude I'm sorry."

"It's ok Jeff, it wasn't your fault." One of the coaches said.

"It's ok Jeff." Xander said as I closed the door. I thanked people quickly before getting in the van and driving to the hospital. It hurt me to hear my son in pain, and every time the car hit a bump he would cry more. When we finally got to the hospital I helped him into the ER and found Caroline.

"Aww, Xander, sweetie, ok.. we'll fix you up." She said wheeling him down the hallway. Together we set his arm and then made a cast, he chose neon green.

"There ya go sweetie." I said when we were done. "Feel a little better?"

"Yeah, thanks mommy." Xander gave me a half hug and a kiss.

"Aww, sweetie."

"Xander, honey, mom know's all this but you can't get that cast wet, and it will get really itchy. .. and..."

"Are you ok?" Lance burst in the room looking slightly pale.

"It hurts." Xander pouted. He knew he could milk this for all it was worth with Lance.

"I know cowboy, it'll be ok... Wow cool cast, what happened?"

"I was sliding into home and me Jeff hit really hard and my arm just kinda popped." Xander said.

"Oww." Lance made a face.

"He's ok." I said helping Xander off the bed.

"No I'm not." Xander said.

"Honey..." I put my arm around him and Lance and I walked him out to the 4-runner.

"You wanna ride with Daddy?"

"Yeah."

"Ok see you at home." I turned to Lance to kiss him but he was busy helping Xander in the car. I sighed and waved at them and then went to my van to find Mike standing there.

"Hey Mike."

"Hey! I need a ride."

I laughed. "Sure to where?"

"I dunno anywhere but home, take me to my parents if you please."

"Sure."

"What are you doing here anyway? Don't you have the day off?"

"I worked this morning, no Xander broke his arm."

"Yikes, he ok?" We climbed in the van.

"Yeah, I'm sure Lance will spoil him for the next month." I smiled. "No he's ok."

"Cool, I, I uh saw what happened with Lance."

"What happened with Lance?" I was confused.

"You wanted to kiss him."

"Eh, well yeah I haven't gotten a kiss today, you know we used to kiss like all the time, I dunno, we've been busy lately."

"You guys arn't having problems are you?"

"No." I shook my head. "No, just very busy, Lyns is signed on FreeLance, Cassie is vollenteering at the vets, in swimming and dance, Xander has baseball and basketball, however he'll have to sit out for a while now, and I'm working so.."

"We'll I'm sorry, you go home and kiss your husband." Mike laughed as I pulled up to his parents house. I laughed.

"Will do, see ya."

"You on tomorrow?"

"Yup, 5 am."

"Ish, well I'll see ya at 10."

"Ok bye."

"Bye." He shut the door and I drove home.

"Hey ya." I said opening the door at home. Lance had Xander propped up with pillows on the couch.

"Hi." Xander said. I went over to him and gave him a kiss. "Where's Daddie?"

"Kitchen."

"You ok?"

"Mhm."

"Ok, I'll be right back." I turned and walked into the kitchen. Lance was making sandwhiches with his back to me. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him.

"Hi."

"Hi, what took you so long?"

"I gave Mike a ride home."

"WHAT?!" Lance spun around pushing me away in the process.

"He needed a ride, no big deal Lance, he's married remember, and so am I."

"I know, do you think we should give Xander asprin or something?"

"He had some."

"oh ok, XANDER WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DRINK?"

"SPRITE!"

"No." I shook my head.

"HOW ABOUT MILK?"

"I GUESS." Lance walked over to the refrigirator and got the milk out.

"Lance?"

"Hm?" He poured it in a glass.

"Can I have a kiss?"

"Can you wait a second, I've gotta bring this out there." Lance held up the sandwhich and milk. I shrugged and he dissapeered. I put my head against the cabnit.

"Mom what's wrong?"

"Oh hi Lyns, nothing's wrong."

"Ok, uh, Cody needs help with Biology."

"Ok, whatcha need Cody?"

"Lung functions, I don't get it." He put his books on the counter.

"Well the lungs take in air and put the oxygen into our blood... her do you have a diagram, there, ok now..." I started explaining it.

"I've gotta go." Lance came in the room.

"What? Why?"

"Joey's stranded at the mall."

"Can't Trista get him?"

"No, her anniversery present is with him."

"But Lance..."

"What?" He snapped.

"Wait a second, what the hell did I do?!"

"Nothing nevermind, I'll be back." Lance left the room.

"What the fuck..." I said to myself, suddenly remembering Lyns and Cody.

"Please don't fight." Lynsey said.

"It's ok Lyns."

"You sure, you're not getting a divorce right?"

I smiled. "No Lynsey, don't worry about it ok."

"DAD!!" Xander yelled.

"HE'S NOT HERE!"

"MOM!!"

"WHATCHA NEED?"

"THE SATALITE REMOTE BATTERIES RAN OUT!" Xander called. I sighed and got up and rummeged around for batteries not finding any.

"Mom I need glue." Lynsey said.

"In the drawer."

"It's all dried up."

"Ok, I'll go get some, anybody else need anything?"

"Gum?" Cody smiled that wacky smile like Justin. I laughed.

"Ok Cody, I'll get ya gum, be right back, watch Xander ok?" I told Lynsey as I grabbed my keys and jumped in my bug and left. I was at the store and went around an isle when I ran into Lance.

"Lance!"

"Hi."

"What are you doing here?"

"We needed more Jelly."

"Where's Joey?"

"Coffee bar."

"Oh."

"What are you doing here?"

"Cody needs gum, Lyns needs glue and Xander needs batteries and we need food." I said putting cereal in my cart.

"Oh, ok." Lance turned to leave and I caught his sleave.

"What the hell is your problem?" I hissed not wanting to attract attention.

"I don't have a problem."

"Yes I haven't gotten a kiss all day, yesteday I had to beg for one, you don't seem to want to spend any time around me." I said.

"What? No Kate, I'd never..."

"Lance, think about it, what's wrong, we used to, you know, kiss all the time."

"Kate, come on, there's just a lot of stuff going on right now."

"Fine, whatever you want." I pushed the cart away and left Lance standing there.

"Hey Kate!" Joey appered with a cup of coffee.

"Hi Joey." I took the coffee from him and continued on my way. Joey stood there confused looking at his now empty hand. He shrugged and went back over to get more coffee. I was sipping mine and looking over the soup isle when my cell phone rang.

"Hello?"

"It's me, I need glitter."

"Ok what color?"

"Uh, red, blue, green and gold."

"Ok Lyns."

"Bye Mom."

"Bye." I hung up the phone and put soup in the cart and then wheeled back over to the office supplies section and got glitter.

"Kate?" I turned around and saw Lance standing there.

"What?"

"Are, are you ok?"

"Not really." I was debating two different gold glitters, not knowing why she needed it I tossed them both in the cart. I continued pushing the cart.

"Kate, I'm not ignoring you on perpose."

"Sure feels that way." I stopped to get glue and then looked at the batteries section flipping open my phone and calling home.

"Hello?" Cody answered.

"Hey Code, what kind of batteries does the remote take."

"Uh.. lemme check. XANDER!! WHAT KIND OF BATTERIES DO YOU NEED?!.... tripple A. four of them."

"Ok thanks."

"No problem."

I hung up the phone and grabbed a pack of the batteries. Lance was still standing there.

"You want me to pay for that?" I asked looking at the jelly he was holding.

"Sure." He set it in the cart.

"Ok see you at home." I turned around and started walking to the checkout.

"Hello." The pirky lady said.

"Hi." I said drinking more coffee.

"Is that payed for?"

"I dunno, Joey bought it I guess."

"Is there a blue mark.. ok yeah it's payed for." The lady started scanning the stuff in my cart. I was getting my check card out when I felt arms around me. I stepped out of his embrace and continued looking threw my purse.

"Kate..." Lance sighed.

"I need my check card, do you have it?"

"No."

"Oh here it is." I got it ready for the lady when she needed it.

"Kate, I'm..."

"I don't want to hear it right now." I looked at him. He looked hurt.

"But I..."

"We'll talk about it later." I handed the lady the card.

"Why not now, there are no kids here."

"Because damn it, because I feel like yelling and I can't do that here now can I? Joey needs a ride anyway." I said.

"Why do you want to yell, what did I do that was so bad?!"

"Nothing, and that's the problem, nothing, it's like we live in that house together right, but we never ever get ANY time together, we're always off on errends or something, see we are together now but ya know what, we're not at home! I never see you, I swear your receptionist sees you more then I do."

"You're not..."

"He's a guy Lance, of course I'm not jelous."

"Sign here please." The lady said her eyes wide as she looked at Lance's name on the slip. I signed and handed it back to her.

"Look Kate, maybe we need a vacation or something, or a date, let's go out on Friday."

"I've got the night shift and Cassie has a swim meet."

"Saturday."

"You've got meetings all day remember?"

"Sunday?"

"My birthday."

"I knew that."

".. yeah Monday I work, Tuesday Lyns has that meeting with Aaron Carter and his people, Wednesday would be empty but Caroline and Justin are going on a short vay-cay so we're looking after Callie and Cody, shall I continue?"

"Ok, I'll tell ya what, I'll cancell my meetings on Saturday."

"You don't have to do that... thank you." I sighed taking my card back and grabbing my bag of grocceries.

"But I.."

"See you at home." I walked out and stuck the grocceries in my bug and then was about to get in when I felt lips on my neck.

"Kate, I..."

"So are y'all gunna give me a ride home or what?" Joey asked walking up to us.

"I'll do it Joey, hop in." I said. He climbed happily in the bug.

"See you at home." Lance walked back over to his car.

"So what was that about?" Joey asked as I started my car.

"Oh nothing."

"Something you two having problems?"

"No, did you know Xander broke his arm?"

"Yeah, that's really sad, is he ok?"

"Yeah, he's milking Lance for all it's worth."

"Lance is good for that." Joey laughed.

"Mhm."

"Kate?"

"What?"

"Tell me wuz up."

"No Joey I don't want to, are you going home?"

"No I'm going to your house."

"Well then why.. ok fine." I pulled up to a stoplight behind Lance. He started gestering to us, making me VERY confused.

"What the hell?"

"OH!! that's right! I need to pick something up at Borders, can we go?"

"I guess." I turned my left blinker off and my right one on and turned right.

"Kate, what's wrong?"

"NOTHING!" I said flooring the bug to get threw the intersection.

"Don't kill us just because you're pissed at Lance."

"I'M NOT PISSED!" I yelled pulling into the parking lot. Joey raised his eyebrows at me.

"Kate, come on tell me what's wrong."

"What's wrong? My HUSBAND WON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME!!!!!!!!! OR TALK TO ME OR ANYTHING!!!!"

"What do you mean, he was just kissing you."

"No, he was trying to get me to forgive him. You should have seen him this morning, I was like Lance can I have a kiss? he's like, no I have to go, so like what he can't take five seconds to kiss his wife whom he supposidly loves?!"

"Kate, look if Lance doesn't love you then the world seriously must be coming to an end."

"Funny Joey." I opened the door and got out.

"Really Kate, he loves you ok, there's just a lot going on now."

"How would you know." I snapped slamming the door and walking into the store.

"Kate, don't get mad at me!" Joey caught up to me.

"Just get what you need and let's get the fuck out of here."

"Kate.. calm-" Joey was interupted by my beeper going off. I grabbed it and looked.

"U R needed in the ER."

"GOD FUCKING DAMN IT!!!!!!!" I yelled about ready to break something. People were staring at me but I didn't care.

"I've gotta go Joey, you'll have to get Lance to come......" My cell phone rang.

"WHAT?!" I yelled into it.

"Mommy.." Cassie was crying.

"Oh I'm sorry honey what's wrong?"

"Toby got sick, Daddie's taking him to the vet right now, I.. I..."

"Oh sweetie.... I... I have to go to work."

"MOM!"

"Cassie I'm so sorry, why didn't Daddie take you with him?"

"He was in a hurry and I couldn't find my shoes, Mommy what if Toby dies?"

"Oh honey, Toby knows we love him, and if it is his time to go then, he has had a wonderful life sweetie, but pray for him ok?"

"I want you here." Cassie was crying, "Cody and Lynsey are at his house, Xander is asleep and Daddie is gone."

"I'll tell you what, if you need me call me ok, I have to go to the hospital, you give Simba big hugs for his big brother and pray for Toby ok?"

"I will Mommy."

"I'm so sorry sweetie, I wish I could come home."

"I know Mommy, bye." I hung up the phone and turned to Joey.

"What?" He looked at my face.

"TOBY IS DYING!! CASSIE IS AT HOME ALONE! I HAVE TO GO TO WORK, LANCE IS PISSED AT ME, I'M PISSED AT HIM AND I DON'T HAVE ANY FUCKING TIME TO DO ANYTHING FOR MY FAMILY LET ALONE MY DAUGHTER WHO IS LOOSING HER DOG!!!" I screamed. Joey took me in his arms and let me cry.

"Kate, I'll walk over to your house for Cassie ok? I'm sure Toby will be ok, he's a very healthy dog, and he's only how old?"

"16."

"Oh well that's old, but he had a good life, you and Lance will be ok, I know you will, next time he see's you he will give you a huge kiss ok? You have to calm down Kate."

"I know Joey, would you go over there?"

"Of corse."

"Thank you so much Joey, you are wonderful, I really have to go, if Lance.. oh nevermind." I turned around and got in my car and drove off. I was very pissed when I got to the ER. I went in the locker room and started changing into scrubs.

"Kate?"

"WHAT?!" I yelled turning around to see Caroline standing there.

"Sorry.." She turned to leave.

"I'm sorry."

"It's ok, Trista got sick and we had to call you in."

"Yeah whatever." I walked to the desk and was signing in the board.

"Hey Kate!"

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" I grabbed a chart and walked into the curtain three. There was an old lady on the bed.

"HI mam, my name is Kate Bass, what seems to be the problem."

"I've had a stomach ache for almost a week, and I can't keep anything down."

"Ok.." I examined her and found that she needed an IV badly and I had to run tests. "I'm going to have to give you an IV to get your fluids back."

"Ok." She nodded. I went looking for the IV kit and didn't find it anyway.

"Where is it?" I asked the nurse that was helping me.

"I dunno."

"God damn it." I slammed the drawer shut and walked to the supply room and grabbed one and started walking back to the lady when I ran into Mike.

"God damn it! What where you're going!" I yelled pushing him aside. He grabbed my arm.

"Kate whats wrong with you?"

"Nothing!" I jerked my arm free and went back to the lady and started giving her an IV.

"Kate, Lance is on the phone."

"What does he want?"

"He didn't say."

"WELL ASK!"

"He said he needs to talk to you, something about Xander."

I took the phone and held it to my ear while I set up the IV drip.

"Is Toby ok?"

"I dunno yet."

"God damn it."

"Kate don't get mad at me."

"I am mad already Lance, what's wrong with Xander."

"He's got a temperature."

"How high is it?"

"Kinda high."

"God damn it Lance, HOW high?"

"100."

"Shit he must have a reaction to the meds, ok uh, you'll have to bring him in ok?"

"Sure."

"Ok you know where to find me." I hung up the phone and sat down.

"Kate?"

I looked up and saw Caroline there.

"What?"

"Xander ok?"

"No, he's reacting to the meds for his arm, Lance is bringing him in."

"Joey just called."

"What?"

"He says he's stranded at Borders."

"Yeah I kinda.."

"Don't worry Justin's gunna go get him, what's wrong?" Caroline started helping me set the IV and get blood drawn.

"It's Lance, he just... I don't even know, I'm having a bad day."

"I'm sorry sweetie, he loves you."

"Yeah that's what Joey said."

Caroline stopped what she was doing and looked up at me. "Kate! You think Lance doesn't love you?!"

"Well, I mean I know he did, but... "

"MY GOD!! Kate, Lance is so in love with you it's sick, he's additcted to you Kate, my god, you two are like... you two are ment to be together more then anyone else I know!"

"I know that.." I sighed.

"What did he do?"

"It's not important." I finished the ladys blood sample and handed it to the nurse I had snapped at. A while later I was back with the old lady explaining what an ulcer was and what needed to be done to fix it.

"Mommy?"

I turned around and saw Xander standing next to me with Lance.

"HI baby, how are you feeling?" I knelt down by him and felt his forhead.

"Not so good, Mommy is Toby gunna die?"

"I don't know sweet heart, I hope not, but he is very old... Not so hot huh, ok hop up here." I helped him up on the bed next to the ladies. "I have to finish with this lady but then I'll make you feel better ok honey?"

"Mhm."

"Kate?" I looked at Lance.

"Hm?"

"Nevermind." He hung his head and sat down next to Xander.

"Hey Xander, how are ya?" Caroline walked up to them.

"Aunt Caroline!!" Xander said hugging her.

"Hi sweetie, mommy and I will make you feel better ok?" She smiled at him. "Hi Lance."

"Hm?" He had been looking at me. I rolled my eyes and finished with the old lady and turned back to Xander and put on clean gloves.

"Ok sweetie pie, I'm gunna take your temperature." I put the thermometer in his ear and pushed a button. "100.7." I read outloud.

"He's reacting." Caroline said taking out a needle.

"I.. I need a shot?" Xander looked at me with big eyes.

"Yes sweetie, it will be ok, you're a big boy." I smiled at him. He started to cry. He didn't like shots any more then JC did.

"Is your name Xander?" The lady asked. We all turned. Xander wiped tears off his face and nodded.
